Dragonfly

Found this beautifully intact and huge dragonfly at my river, The Forks, while swimming last week...

Raspberry Shortbread Cakes

Ingredients...

150G butter
1 tspn vanilla essence
1/2 cup icing sugar
1/2 cup cornflour
3/4 cup flour
raspberry jam
11 frozen raspberries
icing sugar to dust

Method...

Melt butter in a saucepan large enough to mix all the ingredients.
Remove from heat and mix in the vanilla essence. Sift in the icing sugar, cornflour and flour, and mix until combined.
Press about 2 tablespoons of mixture into greased patty pans to just fill the pan. Make a dent in the top of the mixture with your knuckle. Place 1/2 teaspoon of raspberry jam in the dent. Top with a frozen raspberry.

Bake at 160 C for 45 minutes, or until cooked. Dust with icing sugar.
Makes 11
Recipe from Robin Martin Bakes

I adapted this recipe a bit, using fresh blackberries from up the road, and adding them after 1/2 hour of cooking in the oven.
YUM!

The coolest fairy book ever

Fairie-ality Style; A sourcebook of inspiration from nature
by David Ellwand

Possibly the coolest fairie book ever, this book is really beautiful, inspirational and just plain awesome.
Using all natural materials, this is a great combo of hand-made and photoshop images set to inspire. Ellwand uses artistic licence to create beautiful things- dresses, shoes, houses, chairs, tables, lamps - using all found organic materials - flowers, leaves, sticks, feathers, seeds etc.
A miny fairie world out of fairie materials.

Jewellery Circle

Made this yesterday out of young vine, i think it was actually supplejack.
Only good for making stuff like this!

Jolly Jingles - Daily Mail Annual 1962. I found this at an opp shop somewhere, and I used to have the exact same one when I was a child. I remember the same-colour pages where all the illustrations are blue or red, I just love them. Inspirations for a painting I think....
Atomised by Michel Houellebecq, from Vintage Classics.

There are ten Vintage Classic Twins to collect - one modern classic title paired with one established classic work. Each pair has a vintage title, this one named Vintage Satire. The book it is paired with is Gulliver's Travels by Jonothan Swift.
I really love the colour combo and the sketch on the cover. Up to chapter six at the moment will let you know how the actual book is!! Grabbed from a friends as I thought it was pretty - I definately judge books by their covers!
