The Crochet Mission
sorry for the lack of blogging - don't you hate it when life gets in the way of doing fun things like blogging? Been going hard crocheting The Tree as it is now known at our house. The 'Bloody Tree' apparently better make us some money (probably not but don't tell Him that) and i have been crocheting up a storm to get it done by Friday for a friend to drop at the Left Bank Gallery in Greymouth for the members exhibition next week, along with my 'Forks Forest' painting as of course it would be a shame not to exhibit them together!! It's looking great, will post pics when it's finished !! Tash

My friend Ed from Okarito made me this beautiful bunting from Japanese papers for my birthday last week, so I came home and put them up straight away!

Tree Sculpture
Well it's not a floor-to-ceiling sculpture like I would like, but it's a start!
All ready for painting and then crocheting. I am going to try to crochet polka dots and stripes in the same colours as my 'Forks Forest' painting, kind of making a 3D version of it really.
Watch this space to see how I'm going.....!!! and wish me luck...

A Flower Gift
I knitted and crocheted this last night for a lovely lady who looked after the kids the other night, while I got to go have a boogie across the road at our annual Guy 'Forks' party. I think I will have to now make some bouquets of them!

Crocheted Headband
The Mother-in-Law taught me how to crochet properly the other night (not just flowers!) so to celebrate i made this headband out of some left over homespun type wool. I love it. Have been wearing it every day. Will have to make another one a different colour so i don't get bored with it i think.
It's been SO long that i have wanted to learn to crochet and i'm so excited, i want to crochet EVERYTHING. I'm thinking trees. Large trees. Maybe a punga, although that is a bit 'done'. Cabbage tree?. I have the Members' exhibition coming up in December, and the theme is 'The year of the forest'......would be perfect. If i didn't have children to look after and bookings all Nov and Dec it might happen. Might talk to my sculpturess friend who is an expert on making frames for large objects!

Birthday Cake Competition
well, we are back from the (other) coast, and yes i did end up watching rugby! i had a great time opp shopping and hunting for fabric, was so much fun. I even managed to knit the husband a grey felted merino hat for his birthday on my circular needles (how i love them!).
The Mother-in-Law is now here visiting, and we had a Cake Competition for C's birthday earlier in the week. This was my carrot cake. He got six cakes (!) and we all voted on them for Presentation (C's mum won); Taste, and Overall X Factor. Sadly my beloved carrot cake didn't win. Thinking of making it an annual affair. Best to get my cake decorating skills perfected.
